Fancy owning an island or maybe adding to your collection? Well I’ve managed to uncover the islands on a ‘budget’ that are under £250k!

Motu Matatahi – Tahiti, French Polynesia – £172,406

For the same amount of money you would be able to buy a small one bedroom flat in Walthamstow, London. This Pacific island is on the market boasting 1.8 acres of unspoilt Polynesian luxury, however it is over an hour away by boat from the nearest airport.

Charles Island – Mitchell Bay, Canada – £144,901

This undeveloped 19-acre island in Mitchell Bay, eastern Canada, neighbours a collection of smaller islets. The island is two hours drive away from the regional hub of Halifax while the small town of Sheet Harbour is just 25 minutes away. For the same amount of money in the UK you could buy a static caravan in Sevenoaks, Kent. The densely wooded Charles Island is in an area popular with water sports and sits about 30 metres from the mainland.

Deer Bay French River Island – Ontario, Canada – £125,170

This heavily wooded Canadian island is on the market and covers about two acres. Deer Bay Island is located in a bay just off the main channel of the French River and is just five minutes from the mainland by boat.  The island is covered in dense woodland mainly made up of red and white pines. For the same amount of money in the UK you could buy a two-bedroom maisonette in Coventry. This island property is forested with two acres of mature red and white pines, cedars, small ash, junipers and blueberry bushes.

Frigate Caye – Belize – £145,555

This Central American island is on sale for £145,555 and has about 1.4 acres in total size. Frigate Caye is situated on the eastern side of Turneffe Atoll just off the coast of Belize. For the same price in the UK you could buy a dilapidated retirement flat in North Finchley, London.

Or maybe you fancy the more expensive side of life?
