The answer, you will be pleased to know is, oh yes you can! You can take a private jet with all of your furry friends.

What do you need to know about flying with pets?

The general rules of travelling with pets on a private jet flight to/from the UK include the pet having a pet passport, being micro chipped, having up to date rabies vaccinations, two treatments administered by a vet 24-48hrs prior to the return journey for ticks and a worming treatment.

If the pet meets all of these requirements, then there will be no need for any quarantine period.

So why charter a private aircraft to fly with your pet instead of traveling by commercial airline?

Sheduled Airlines are making it more and more difficult to take pets into the cabin. If your best friend is over 15 pounds or more than 12 inches tall, then it will probably have to fly in the cargo hold. Even though this section of the cargo is pressurized and temperature controlled, many animal lovers will be concerned about putting their pet in the cargo hold of a commercial airline.

With a private jet, your pets can always travel with you in the cabin. And where most airlines limit you to one pet per passenger, there is no limit as to the number of pets you can take with you on a private jet.

During the summer months when temperature exceeds 84 degrees on the runway, many airlines will not accept a pet as checked baggage or as cargo. During the colder months, the airline may require an Acclimation Certificate signed by your veterinarian certifying that your pet can adjust to colder temperatures.

Many airlines will not accept snub nose breeds such as Persian cats, Bulldogs, Pugs and Shih-Tzus in the cargo hold as they may develop breathing problems at high altitudes. Whereas a private jet is able to fly at a lower altitude.

Which Airports can you fly from in the UK with pets?

You can fly out of any of the UK Airports with your pets, but flying back in is a different matter. The aircraft operating company must be DEFRA registered and only certain UK airports are DEFRA registered for receiving incoming flights, for example, Luton, Farnborough, Biggin Hill, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol.
