Any Excuse…

Published May 11th, 2012 | Author: Wendy
Well its not really an excuse, but I don’t need asking twice. I am back in the beautiful French Riviera at our Nice Airport office to do some interviewing for someone to work with our lovely Marina, as Derek is transferring to our Florida office and here in the South of France, the season is just kicking off.
We arrived early evening and as the sun was shining (yes ok, any excuse) headed for Cannes Croissette for a verre de vin blanc and a spot of beautiful people watching.  Its a hive of activity as the Film Festival starts next week.
Then I persuaded Mr C to take the coast road around the Cap d’Antibes, just because I love to look at it (you can’t really look at it if you’re driving, its so narrow and windy) and then on to our hotel the lovely secluded Hotel Sainte Valerie with its comfortable stylish decor.  It has the most amazingly romantic garden with a huge tree, its vast branches form a leafy green canopy from which hang lanterns with tea lights, it has almost a Moroccan feel with richly coloured cushions, and burning flame torches. An oasis of shady calm.
So where do you fancy for dinner tonight asked Mr C? So I booked a table at my favourite restaurant in Antibes, Le Broc en Bouche, a real hidden gem tucked away in a narrow lane behind the main market street.
Run by Florence and Frederic (thats me with Florence, she does the waitressing and Frederic does the cooking) they are a great team and the food they serve up is exquisite traditional Mediterranean cuisine, all fresh produce and a really imaginative menu with (of course) a good selection of wines to wash it all down.
Its a really great find, a cosy bistro with a mix of old mismatched furniture, antiques, bric-a-brac, posters and so on.  A really eclectic mix that makes you feel instantly comfortable.  Definitely one to try if you find yourself in Antibes.
Fancy a nightcap at the Latino bar? Silly question!
