15th Street Fisheries

Published May 17th, 2011 | Author: Wendy

15th Street Fisheries is located right on the water in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, just inside Lauderdale Marina. This was our lunch destination on Monday for a meeting with Robin, our good friend from the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and Stephen Scott, Director for Economic Development (Thanks Stephen for the opportunity to present our company at the next Breakfast networking event).  What a great choice of restaurant, thank you gentlemen.  It is a real authentic slice of Old Florida.  Specialties include Farm Raised Florida Gator served golden brown with horseradish sauce, and Joe’s Sizzler Skillet, fresh fish, shrimp, scallops, tomatoes and artichoke, served on a sizzling cast iron skillet, with a creamy white wine-sherry sauce.  Apparently their most popular dish for over 30 years.  (Does anyone think this business trip, has just been one long food fest?  Me too!) No wonder you see so many joggers pounding along the sea front.  Dan pulled the short straw and had to stay at the office – too many enquiries. Sorry Dan, but we all know you were in Hooter Heaven last night, so we shan’t feel too sorry for you.

One of the special attractions of the Dockside eaterie is feeding the Tarpon (I know, I’d never heard of this fish either) along the restaurant dock.  Nicknamed the silver king, derived from the bright flash that reflects from its body as it jumps, the Tarpon grow as large as 300 pounds and can reach over 8ft long (unless thats just a fishermans tale).
