Where is Majorca?
Majorca is one of the Balearic Islands. Its capital, Palma, is also the capital of the Balearic Islands (an autonomous community). The Island can be found in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Spain, north of Africa and to the west of Sicily. Here is a map that will help you locate the Island accurately:
The airport (Palma de Mallorca Airport) is located to the east of Palma, on the south west coast of the Island. It is only 10 minutes away from Palma in a taxi and, since the island is fairly small, it is no further than one hour away from the rest of the island.
What to do in Majorca / Mallorca?
On an Island, your first idea should be to go to the beach. Majorca has many beaches, like Playa de Muro Beach for example, and the Mediterranean Sea has very little tides so it’s an ideal place to go for a swim (or a dive) safely. The Island is a wonderful place to visit on foot with great views and parks. You can, for example, go hiking in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains (the view itself is worth the climb) or in the Parc Natural de Mondrago. If sightseeing is your thing, you can visit the Cathedral of Le Seu in Palma, a massive gothic cathedral.
Golf Fantasia has just been renovated; it’s the perfect place for golf enthusiasts. If you’d like something a little more thrilling you can head to the Jungle Parc for a fun and stimulating tree circuit or to the Caves of Arta for an underground adventure. Animal lovers will enjoy the Palma Aquarium and the Artestruz Mallorca where children will love meeting (and riding) the ostriches. In the evening, you can head to Magaluf to the west of Palma to dine while enjoying the Pirates Adventure Show (another great time for children) or to the Come Fly With Me performance at the Globo Balear Theatre.
