Where is Dubai?

Dubai is located on the northern coast of the United Arab Emirates across Iran, east of Qatar and north of Oman. Its coastline is very recognizable thanks to its manmade islands shaped like palm tree or even like a map of the world. Of course, with a map, the location is a little bit more obvious so here is one to help you find your bearings:

Dubai International Airport is just minutes away from the town centre towards the north. It’s a very well connected and very travelled airport. We even have one of our offices over there.

What to do in Dubai?

One of the most interesting to do in Dubai, one of the wealthiest cities on earth, is shopping. While their malls are very similar to ours and could seem a little disappointing, you can head to the Gold Souk to shop for jewellery of excellent quality (it is government regulated) and even get a bargain if you haggle. If you like sport, you can choose between water sports at the beach (although spending time on the beach for sun tanning is perfectly fine too), you can also play golf, or go for a trek in the desert. You could even swim with Dolphins. One thing we recommend seeing at all cost is the manmade islands, for example the palm shaped Jumeirah Island that can be seen by air, in a private helicopter or by sea.

Structures in Dubai are worth admiring: the Burj Al Arab hotel and the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building). The latter is so tall that you can see it splitting clouds in half on cloudy days. Alcohol is forbidden in Muslim countries except in hotels. Fortunately hotels are numerous in Dubai and some even organise “Champagne brunches” on Fridays. Be ready however, as these brunches involve huge amounts of alcohol and food!
