Where is Berlin?

Berlin is fairly easy to locate. It is in the East part of Germany, East of France, West of Poland and South of Denmark. Since 1989 it is no longer split between east and west Germany but it is still split by the Spree River. Of course, it is easier to locate it with a map so here is one for you:

Berlin Airport (Berlin Schönefeld Airport) is located just south of the city and is very well connected. Thanks to the many roads and motorways connected to the Airport, it only takes half an hour to drive to and from the Airport.

What to do in Berlin?

Berlin is home to Europe’s largest department store KaDeWe which may be a little bit expensive but has plenty of things you’ll want anyway. Museum Island on the Spree is a UNESCO World Heritage Site housing 5 museums (you can get a single ticket valid for all museums) with the most interesting (probably) being the Pergamon Museum of architecture. Berlin also houses the Zoologischer Garten & Aquarium, the most popular Zoo in Europe. Be sure to stop by and admire their rare and endangered species.

Dinner options are numerous but we would warmly recommend you try the Unsicht-Bar on Gormann Strasse. This very unique restaurant will let you experience your meal in complete darkness. Blind waiters will instruct you as to how to enjoy your meal. Your evening wouldn’t be complete without paying a visit to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra for an evening of both classical and contemporary music.

Of course, before you leave, don’t forget to experience part of German history with a visit to the Reichstag or Checkpoint Charlie which is the famous east-west border control from the Cold War that has been turned into a tourist hotspot.
