Regatta in the Baie des Anges
This international regatta in the Baie des Anges (Bay of Angels) is the
most important in France. Organised by the Water Club of Nice, the event
has been taking place for more than 40 years and welcomes 30 to 40 crews
from all over the world.
You can be sure of witnessing only the world's finest, as Olympic-level
athletes converge on Nice to compete in a number of sailing classes, featuring
the "Star" boat that is used in Olympic competitions.
Past competitors have included Paul Cayard (USA), Roberto Benamati (Italy),
José-Louis Doreste (Spain) and a host of other national champions. The competition
takes place against a spectacular backdrop of snowy mountains that make
the contest the perfect excuse for a day out.

CARNIVAL
Nice comes alive each February with this colourful winter festival that
attracts many visitors over its two-week run. Highlights include beautiful
events such as flower parades, traditional float processions and fireworks
displays. The celebrations often continue late into the night with theatre,
live bands and DJ sets. The carnival usually has a theme that addresses
modern day issues
