Volcano Chaos

Published May 20th, 2010 | Author:Marketing

Well, it has been an interesting month for Air Travel, hasn’t it?

When the Volcanic Ash cloud hit our shores we experienced the first closure of airspace ever recorded.  The huge cloud of ash from an Icelandic volcano grounded thousands of flights and left thousands of people stranded due to cancelled flights.

At International Air Charter we were absolutely inundated with flight requests like never before, from those stranded abroad and desperate to get home to those who had spent months or years even planning the perfect wedding only to be told there were no flights to their romantic destination for the foreseeable future.

Ash

We did our best to help our clients, arranging limo transfers to airports that were still operational in Europe, such as Nice, Marseilles and Barcelona for onward travel to the destination airport.  Our office based at Nice Airport was incredibly busy organizing flights during this period.  When restrictions were partially lifted in the UK we were able to get clients back into airports in the North of England such as Newcastle, which was one of the first to re-open, and then arrange onward ground transportation for clients needing to get back to London.

We even managed to secure the last Eurostar tickets available for clients desperate to get home by any means possible!

Despite the unpredictability of the volcano and the travel chaos it caused, we were very pleased to have been on hand 24hrs to provide travel solutions for our clients.

Travel to the World Cup 2010

Published May 20th, 2010 | Author:Marketing

South Africa is certainly a very popular destination for our clients in June and July.

south-africa-2010-world-cup-logo-1With the World Cup 2010 upon us football fever has hit.  From 11 June to 11 July this promises to be a memorable event, not least for the exotic location, but also the magnificent stadium and the atmosphere brought to the event by African culture.

If your team has made it to the Cup you may be travelling to South Africa in a private jet or choose to use our services to get around once you are there.

Whatever your travel plans you may well get to see some of the many other attractions in South Africa during your stay.

Perhaps if you are travelling with family who are not so enthusiastic about the beautiful game they may be interested in adding some of the below to their itinerary.

Safari

All of the Big Five can be seen in natural surroundings in South Africa. The biggest and most famous safari park in the country (and possibly the world) is the Kruger National Park. Lion-photographer_jpgIt is so large that it requires several days to see the whole park. Certainly ideal if your team is knocked out early!

Addo Elephant National Park is a smaller alternative, although you won’t see lions, and Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park is also to be recommended.

Surf

South Africa has many world-class surfing spots.  Jeffrey’s Bay and Plettenberg Bay are ideal spots.

Nature

If you’re a nature lover then bird watching is rewarding in this part of the world.  Tie this in with a trip to see the whales, penguins and sharks, and you will have had a great day!
