Let’s start with some numbers
The 16 passenger Bombardier Challenger 850 was first certificated in 2010 and costs around $32 million per unit. The 850 is based on Bombardier's previous 50 passenger jet the 'CRJ200', giving you a better idea of how much space you really get on this fantastic private aircraft. The Challenger 850's cabin is 48 ft 3 in (14.7 m) in length, 7 ft 11 in (2.45 m) wide and has a cabin height of 6 ft (1.82 m).
The Challenger 850 is a big aircaft and has a take off distance of 6,305 ft (1,922 m) yet its landing distance is fairly short at 2,910 ft (887 m). The 850 uses two General Electric CF34-3B1 turbofan engines that have a powerful thrust of 8,729 lb (39 kN) each, which means that this super mid size jet can fly at a max speed of 528 mph / 850 km/h /0.80 mach.
The Challenger 850 has a range of 2811 nautical miles / 6 hours flying time (on average), so it can be chartered for trips such as Belvedere CA (via San Francisco International) to Miami, Austin TX to Barbados, London UK to Almaty Kazahhstan, Dubai to Nice, Beijing to Hong Kong, Osaka Japan to Bangkok Thailand or Las Vegas to The Hamptons.
Bombardier wanted the Challenger 850 to be exceptional and they truly exceeded in every way. The cockpit has a state of the art Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4™ six-screen avionics suite. This system increases situational awareness through multiple sensors and includes Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 six-tube EFIS, EICAS with two dedicated screens, Dual Inertial Reference System (IRS), X-Band Digital Color Weather Radar System, Rockwell Collins Maintenance Diagnostic System, TCAS II, wind shear detection, terrain database and Dual GPS, FMS capable of GPS-based navigation including a performance computer.
The electrical system on the Challenger 850 has specifically been built with a light-weight design and is highly durable, this means that the electrical system requires hardly any maintenance and will run perfectly. The aircraft has three seperate generators that feed power to the entire plane however the Challenger 850 also comes with an air-driven AC Generator. The air-driven dynamo creates enough electricity to power the entire aircraft even if a generator should fail.
